David Foster Wallace's family objects to planned biopic

Family members of the late author David Foster Wallace are objecting to the film 鈥淭he End of the Tour,鈥� which stars 鈥淗ow I Met Your Mother鈥� actor Jason Segel as Wallace and 鈥淣ow You See Me鈥� actor Jesse Eisenberg as David Lipsky, a Rolling Stone reporter who traveled with Wallace on a book tour.聽
According to the , lawyers for Wallace鈥檚 relatives and literary trust stated that they "have no connection with, and neither endorse nor support" the film and that "the trust was given no advance notice that this production was underway.鈥�
The Wallace family lawyers say 鈥淭our鈥� 鈥渋s loosely based on transcripts from an interview David consented to 18 years ago for a magazine article.... That article was never published and David would have never agreed that those saved transcripts could later be repurposed as the basis of a movie."
鈥淚ndividuals and companies involved with the production were made keenly aware of the substantive reasons for the trust's and family's objections to this project,鈥� the lawyers said, according to the AP.
鈥淭our,鈥� which is directed by 鈥淭he Spectacular Now鈥� helmer James Ponsoldt, finished filming in late March.
