The Brooklyn Dodgers and the Pittsburgh Pirates play to an 8-8 draw.

On the surface the only thing that seems unusual about this game is that it was called on account of darkness. But what makes it so incredible shows up only in the box score. Each team had 38 at-bats, 13 hits, 12 fielding assists, two errors, five strikeouts, three walks, one hit batter, and one passed ball. Only an accomplished mathematician could calculate the chances of such a coincidence.

Additional fact: During the same season, pitcher Art Neft of the Boston Braves went the distance in a marathon 21-inning game against Pittsburgh, scoring 20 shutout innings before taking the loss by giving up two runs in the 21st inning for a 2-0 loss.
