Five fathers-and-son combos connected to the current team
The idea for involving so many people (10 altogether) probably stems from the fact that Cleveland鈥檚 new manager, Terry Francona, is the son of Tito Francona, who played for the Indians in 1959, the year when Terry was born. The others who took part in the multi-toss ceremonial first pitch were bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr., who caught the ball thrown by his dad, Sandy Alomar Sr., another former Indian, and current players Nick Swisher, Michael Brantley, and Zach McAllister, who were joined by their fathers.
