Network TBS says late-night host Conan O鈥橞rien鈥檚 show 鈥淐onan鈥 will remain a nightly program, despite previous reports that it would be changing to a weekly schedule.聽
鈥淎t this time, we have no plans to change the format or frequency of his popular TBS show,鈥 TBS president Kevin Reilly said in a statement.聽
After serving as host of NBC鈥檚 鈥淟ate Night鈥 program and becoming the host of NBC鈥檚 鈥淭he Tonight Show,鈥 O鈥橞rien debuted his show 鈥淐onan鈥 on TBS in 2010. It currently airs four days a week, a schedule similar to that embraced by, for example, ABC鈥檚 鈥淛immy Kimmel Live!鈥 Others, like CBS鈥檚 鈥淭he Late Show,鈥 air five days a week.聽
O鈥橞rien is one of the late-night hosts who has been on television the longest, having debuted on NBC鈥檚 鈥淟ate Night鈥 in 1993.
The 2016 output by TBS, the home of 鈥淐onan,鈥 was met with a positive reception by critics. Near the beginning of that year, TBS launched 鈥淔ull Frontal With Samantha Bee,鈥 a weekly current events program hosted by the former 鈥淒aily Show鈥 correspondent. Multiple critics named Ms. Bee鈥檚 show as one of the best programs of the year, including聽, who wrote,聽鈥淏ee came in swinging and never let up.鈥澛
And near the end of 2016, TBS launched its new show 鈥淪earch Party,鈥 a comedy series that stars Alia Shawkat and has received positive reviews. 聽called the program 鈥渆xceptional and surprising,鈥 聽with an聽鈥渆xceptional鈥 cast.
鈥淭his is just a great show,鈥 Mr. Seitz wrote,聽鈥渞efreshingly unafraid to twist the knife 鈥 a late-breaking candidate for best series of 2016, arriving near the end of a year that鈥檚 had so many candidates I can barely keep track of them.鈥澛
It was previously reported that 鈥淐onan鈥 will be staying at TBS at least through 2018.
