The 1946 film directed by Frank Capra stars James Stewart as George Bailey, who believes it may have been better if he was never born when a crisis threatens him and his family. An angel named Clarence (Henry Travers) must show him how different life would have been for everyone around him if he had never existed.

According to author Michael Willian, the pool used in was found at Beverly Hills High School, which had in fact built a cover over its pool to be able to use the area as a gym. As of 2006, the pool/gym was still in use.
