The 2009 movie directed by Pete Docter and Bob Peterson centers on an elderly man named Carl, who is mourning the death of his wife Ellie and decides to travel to Venezuela to fulfill a dream they had shared. He chooses an unusual mode of travel 鈥� balloons attached to his house 鈥� and accidentally brings along a young boy named Russell.
Peterson also voiced a dog, Dug, who is given the ability to speak via a voice device.
Producer Jonas Rivera praised the hardworking attitude of the crew behind the film in an interview with . "Our crew would not stop," he said. "They are like Terminators. I swear to God they won't stop. We have to tell them 'It鈥檚 good enough.'" Docter agreed. "[You tell them,] 'Go home!' Then even after you tell them to go home, they sneak in."
