'Sons of Anarchy': Here's what a planned spin-off will be about

鈥淪ons of Anarchy鈥� fans, stories set in your favorite world may not be over just yet.
鈥淎narchy鈥� network FX is reportedly working on a of 鈥淎narchy鈥� with the show鈥檚 creator Kurt Sutter. 鈥淎narchy鈥� concluded in December 2014 and a spin-off would reportedly center on the Mayans Motorcycle Club, a group which have been opponents of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original, the club at heart of 鈥淎narchy.鈥�
Sutter would be an executive producer for the 鈥淎narchy鈥� spin-off.
鈥淎narchy鈥� became FX鈥檚 most popular series. Shows currently on the network include 鈥淎merican Horror Story,鈥� 鈥淔argo,鈥� 鈥淭he Americans,鈥� 鈥淟ouie,鈥� and 鈥淭he Strain.鈥�
The original show centered on Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), whose mother (Katey Sagal) has remarried. Jax鈥檚 father was originally the president of SAMCRO and Jax鈥檚 stepfather (Ron Perlman) is now president of SAMCRO. Jax must decide how he feels about SAMCRO and what they do.聽
Ratings for 鈥淎narchy鈥� increased as the series went on, showing that the program still has appeal for many viewers.
Spin-off programs are increasing on cable networks that have produced well-reviewed television. 鈥淎narchy鈥� was for the most part ignored by the Emmy Awards (it was nominated multiple times for its music but not in other categories), though Sagal did win a Golden Globe Award for her work on the show. However, FX is currently an awards season favorite for some of its other shows 鈥� 鈥淎merican Horror Story鈥� has won multiple Emmys, as has 鈥淔argo,鈥� and 鈥淭he Americans鈥� was nominated for several.
Another critically beloved network that has made a push with new shows set in the world of old hits is AMC. The network launched 鈥淏etter Call Saul,鈥� a show that was based on 鈥淏reaking Bad鈥� character Saul Goodman, this past February, and 鈥淔ear the Walking Dead,鈥� a companion series to AMC鈥檚 massive hit 鈥淭he Walking Dead,鈥� debuted this week. Both did incredibly well in the ratings, with 鈥淪aul鈥� setting a record in viewership for the premiere of a cable TV series. What just broke the record? 鈥淔ear the Walking Dead.鈥澛�
If a spin-off of 鈥淪ons of Anarchy鈥� comes to fruition, it will no doubt recapture some of the viewership from the original show.
