Teen Choice Awards 2015: Who took the top prizes at this year's ceremony

The music group One Direction and the TV shows 鈥淓mpire鈥 and 鈥淧retty Little Liars鈥 won some of the top prizes at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards.
The awards show aired on Fox on Aug. 16 and were bestowed in such diverse categories as favorite male athlete and favorite selfie taker.
In the TV section of awards, the Fox show 鈥淓mpire鈥 took the breakout show prize, while ABC Family鈥檚 鈥淧retty Little Liars鈥 took the TV drama award and 鈥淭he Big Bang Theory鈥 on CBS won the comedy prize. 鈥淟iars鈥 actor Ian Harding won the award for actor in a TV drama, while Hale of 鈥淟iars鈥 won the TV drama actress prize. Ross Lynch of the Disney Channel show 鈥淎ustin & Ally鈥 won the TV comedy actor award and Lea Michele of 鈥淕lee鈥 won the TV comedy actress award. The prize for sci-fi/fantasy show went to 鈥淭he Vampire Diaries鈥 on the CW, while Nina Dobrev of 鈥淰ampire鈥 won the award for an actress on a sci-fi/fantasy show and Jared Padalecki of the CW鈥檚 鈥淪upernatural鈥 won the prize for an actor on a sci-fi/fantasy show.聽
Singer Ed Sheeran won the award for male artist, while Demi Lovato won the female artist prize. One Direction took the award for a male music group and Fifth Harmony won the prize for a female music group. Music group Little Mix won the breakout artist award.聽
One Direction dominated other music categories, taking the love song, party song, group song, summer tour, and group summer music star awards.聽
Meanwhile, the action/adventure movie prize went to 鈥淔urious 7鈥 and the drama movie award went to 鈥淚f I Stay.鈥 鈥淭he Hunger Games: Mockingjay 鈥 Part 1鈥 was named as the best sci-fi/fantasy movie of the year and 鈥淧itch Perfect 2鈥 took the prize for best comedy.聽
The triumph of One Direction in the music category shows that the successful music group isn鈥檛 going anywhere. One Direction has released an album a year since 2011 and all of them have debuted at number one on the chart, the only musical group ever to have their first four albums debut at number one.
鈥淒rag Me Down,鈥 a song from One Direction鈥檚 upcoming fifth album, was released earlier this summer and is currently at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
