Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.

The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

U.S. struck fifth vessel off Venezuela coast.

The strike killed six 鈥渘arcoterrorists,鈥� President Donald Trump said Tuesday. The administration said U.S. intelligence indicated the small boat was carrying drugs for 鈥渘arcoterrorist networks.鈥� It was the fifth such strike by U.S. forces, which have killed 27 people in total. Lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle are demanding legal justification for the strikes as well as evidence the vessels carried drugs.
