Madonna has published a series of children鈥檚 books called The English Roses, with titles like 鈥淕oodbye Grace?鈥� and 鈥淔riends for Life!鈥� The New York Times wryly noted that her previous literary effort was called 鈥淪ex鈥� and featured pictures of her lounging around naked with Vanilla Ice. The "English Roses" books were best-sellers and Madonna donated the proceeds to charity. The Guardian, perhaps less enchanted with the books, noted the first book鈥檚 鈥渟trained charm鈥� and suggested that the book would not have been reviewed, if the author had been a mere mortal instead of Madonna.
