John Lennon published two collections of poetry, short stories, and drawings, called 鈥淚n His Own Write鈥� and 鈥淎 Spaniard in the Works.鈥� The first was published in 1964, the same year the Beatles first appeared on 鈥淭he Ed Sullivan Show.鈥� "A Spaniard in the Works" followed in 1965. The two were rereleased in 2010 to commemorate Lennon鈥檚 70th birthday. The LA Times reviewed the books and praised them both for showing a different side of Lennon: 鈥渆xuberant and playful but with a fire all its own.鈥�
