John Lennon published two collections of poetry, short stories, and drawings, called 鈥淚n His Own Write鈥 and 鈥淎 Spaniard in the Works.鈥 The first was published in 1964, the same year the Beatles first appeared on 鈥淭he Ed Sullivan Show.鈥 "A Spaniard in the Works" followed in 1965. The two were rereleased in 2010 to commemorate Lennon鈥檚 70th birthday. The LA Times reviewed the books and praised them both for showing a different side of Lennon: 鈥渆xuberant and playful but with a fire all its own.鈥
