Son of actress Beth Riesgraf and professional skateboarder-turned-actor Jason Lee, Pilot Inspektor Riesgraf Lee was born on Sept. 28, 2003. The tyke was named after a song called "He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot" by the indie rock band Grandaddy. Lee chatted with Entertainment Weekly in 2005 about the song behind the name, saying, "The opening track, 'He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot,' absolutely blew my mind when I first heard it. It was from this track that my wife, Beth, came up with the name Pilot for our son."
Whether Pilot's fellow classmates enjoy the band as much as his parents do is yet to be reported.
Ms. Riesgraf and Lee separated in 2007.
