What carries us through
A poem.
A poem.

We lie on the driveway, side by side,
   old sheet pulled up
to our shoulders to fend off the mosquitoes, Â
 and look Â
for shooting stars against the August sky.
(I see one – there! Did you see it?) Â
Too hot to touch, I feel for your hand,
 hold a single finger, Â
 love you, Â
 bigger than the sky, Â
 for taking me outside
 to see.
Editor's note: The Perseid meteor shower will peak the night of Aug. 12.
