Night Watch

A poem.

February 11, 2010

Night WatchÌýI watch as the full, lucent moon rises
Ìýand grows smaller in the soft gray sky.

Ìý
ÌýMy black cat is with me for a moment,
Ìýhunched by my side.
ÌýBut shadows are deep tonight
Ìýand he must dart into them,
Ìýpawing after secrets,
Ìýbecoming one himself.

Ìý
ÌýI am alone now,
Ìýexcept for the creeping moon
Ìýand twin pine trees
Ìýas silent as myself.
