Adele, whose 2015 album "25" has become another smash hit for the British songstress,聽says she will not be performing at the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show 鈥撀燼lthough the National Football League and Pepsi, which is the sponsor for the Super Bowl halftime program, say they never officially offered it to her in the first place.聽

Adele spoke about the Super Bowl show during a concert recently.聽

鈥淚'm not doing the Super Bowl," during the show. "I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don't really... I can't dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I did say no. I'm sorry, but maybe next time.鈥

In a , Pepsi and the NFL said that "we have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else."聽

However, it sounds like if Pepsi and the NFL do officially ask Adele to take part, the 鈥淪end My Love (To Your New Lover)鈥 singer will be refusing.聽

The halftime show at the Super Bowl is of course a huge platform for artists. After performing at the Super Bowl last year, the band Coldplay and singers Beyonce and Bruno Mars experienced a sales increase, . Mr. Mars had the biggest percentage increase of the trio, with his two albums, 2010鈥檚 鈥淒oo-Wops & Hooligans鈥 and the 2012 album 鈥淯northodox Jukebox,鈥 seeing a sales increase of 400 percent for Super Bowl week.聽

Yet if Adele did, or does, say no, she would not be the first. Last fall,聽Big Boi of the hip-hop group Outkast said聽the ensemble because of concerns over having to shorten their songs.

However, as聽 notes, 鈥淩ejection is rare because of the platform the show provides.鈥

鈥淭he fit does seem a bit odd,鈥 Mr. Kaye writes. 鈥淩ecent headliners have been rock bands like Coldplay and The Who or pop superstars like Katy Perry and Beyonc茅. Sure, Adele falls into the latter category, but her soul stylings and generally more ballad-based sound might feel like a mismatch for the Super Bowl at first blush.鈥
