Amy Poehler will release an 'nonlinear diary,' her first book, in 2014

Poehler will release a book inspired by her 'interest in helping young women navigate the adult world.' Poehler recently hosted the Golden Globes and stars on 'Parks and Recreation.'

Amy Poehler has entered into a deal with It Books, an imprint of HarperCollins, to write a book that is scheduled for a fall 2014 release date.

Poehler鈥檚 book will be a 鈥渁n illustrated, nonlinear diary full of humor and honesty and brimming with true stories, fictional anecdotes, and life lessons,鈥 according to a from the publisher, and was 鈥渋nspired in part by Poehler鈥檚 interest in helping young women navigate the adult world.鈥

This will be the 鈥Parks and Recreation鈥 star鈥檚 first book. Poehler was recently nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series 鈥 Comedy or Musical, an award for which she was nominated in 2012 as well. Poehler has starred on 鈥淧arks鈥 since 2009 and has appeared in such films as 鈥淏aby Mama,鈥 鈥Blades of Glory,鈥 and 鈥Mean Girls.鈥 She starred on 鈥Saturday Night Live鈥 from 2001 to 2008 and has frequently guest-starred on the show since.

Carrie Thornton of It Books said that she was 鈥渂lown away by [Poehler鈥檚] creativity and her passion鈥 after meeting with the actress.

Poehler鈥檚 Golden Globes co-host, Tina Fey, released her collection of essays, 鈥淏ossypants,鈥 in 2011 and the book has been on many bestseller lists consecutively since then, currently taking the twenty-fourth place on the bestseller list for print and e-book nonfiction, the tenth spot on the paperback nonfiction list and the seventeenth spot on the nonfiction e-book list for the week of Feb. 3. Fellow former NBC comedian Mindy Kaling of 鈥淭he Office鈥 and, now, Fox's 鈥淭he Mindy Project鈥 published her memoir, 鈥淚s Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?,鈥 in 2011, as well. Kaling's book has also sold well, currently occupying the fifteenth spot on the paperback nonfiction list in the same edition of the New York Times bestseller list as well as the thirty-fifth spot on the e-book nonfiction list.
