5 US sailors safe in Siberia; reason for custody not given

Five American sailors captured in the Bering Straits by Soviet authorities Sept. 12 are ''safe and well'' in eastern Siberia, but there has been no official explanation of their detention, a US embassy spokesman said Monday. The embassy's consulate learned they were in the town of Ureliki on the Bay of Prvidence.
