'84 Olympics to apply toughest drug tests yetlogo

Athletes in the 1984 Olympic Games will be tested for excessive amounts of testosterone and caffeine in the most rigorous Olympic antidrug tests ever undertaken.

The decision to go ahead with the tests was reached after Olympic officials meeting in New York were convinced the testing could be done fairly. Since 1976 the Olympic Committee has banned the use of anabolic steroids, a synthetic derivative of testosterone.
