GM dissidents oppose executive bonus plan

Dissident workers whose opposition nearly scuttled a new $3 billion concessions pact with General Motors urged a one-day shutdown of the automaker May 21 to protest a plan making it easier for top executives to get bonuses in profitable years. None have been paid since 1979. The leader of Locals Opposed to Concessions, a group that strongly opposed granting GM ''givebacks'' in the new contract, noted the company's top two executives received pay raises last year of about 18 percent.
