Senator warns of seeking pullout of GIs in Europe

Ted Stevens, chairman of the Senate Appropriations defense subcommittee, warned the Reagan administration he was seriously considering introducing a bill calling for withdrawal of some of America's 337,000 troops from Western Europe because of what he said was growing West European cooperation with the Kremlin.
