Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.

The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

House Republicans retiring in 2010

03/01/2010 4:13 pm ET John Boozman, representing Arkansas's 3rd congressional district, is running for Senate in 2010. This district has leaned Republican by 16 percentage points in the previous two presidential elections. According to the Cook Report, 'This northwestern Arkansas seat has consistently been the fastest-growing and most Republican district in the state.'

02/22/2010 3:06 pm ET Christina Dodd rests her head on the shoulder of her dad, US Sen. Christopher Dodd (D) of Connecticut, after he announced Jan. 6, that he will retire after his current term. Dodd, who served five terms, is chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and made an unsuccessful bid for the presidency in 2008.
