The race to replace Senator Reid is another marquee contest this cycle. Nevada is a battleground state, and had the unpopular Reid chosen to run for reelection, he would likely have faced a tough Republican challenge. But he鈥檚 putting up his spurs after six terms.

Democrats (including Reid) are closing ranks around former state Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto, who announced on April 8, 2015. The Republicans鈥 top prospect is Rep. Joe Heck, who has moved from 鈥渘o鈥 to a 50-50 chance he鈥檒l run. Other possibilities include former Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki and state Attorney General Adam Laxalt, grandson of beloved former Nevada Sen. Paul Laxalt (R). Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) has announced he won't run.

Cook Political Report and Sabato鈥檚 Crystal Ball call the race a tossup. The Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report calls it tossup/tilt Democrat.
