A pigeon's feathers are heavier than its bones.

Hollow bones support the simple weight 听
of life toeing a plaza full of crumbs. 听
The pigeon dips its head to consecrate 听
my offerings, and the small park becomes 听
a minor metaphor of good and grace: 听
What is this bird to me, that I should feed it? 听
And yet because we share this common place 听
it brings a kind of kinship, and I need it. 听

and leaps into the air which parts, receiving 听
the pigeon into more celestial things, 听
and me into the prospect of believing
that burdens may have usefulness unknown. 听
Spread, wings, and lift me up to see my own. 听
