Youssou N鈥橠our, a Senegalese singer and songwriter, has been outspoken in about food security in Africa, urging the international community to act in response to the challenges the continent faces. In 2000, N鈥橠our was nominated as the of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. In this role, N鈥橠our was able to raise money and travel to hunger-affected communities. N鈥橠our鈥檚 commitment to Senegal continues today, as he serves on the cabinet as the Minister of Tourism and Culture.
