Kids鈥 IDs are valuable to thieves. It may surprise you that kids are sometimes the target of identity theft 鈥 where a criminal gets enough information about them (e.g., name, address and social security number) to apply for credit or commit a crime in a child鈥檚 name. Children are susceptible because most have perfect credit (they鈥檝e never borrowed money so they鈥檝e never been late in paying) and don鈥檛 find out their identity鈥檚 been compromised until much later, such as when they want to apply for student loans or credit cards.

Kids spend just as much 鈥 if not more 鈥 time online as adults do and need to understand some basic rules of cybersecurity.
