Calm down, Brown says.
鈥淵ou may land your dream job out of college but it doesn鈥檛 happen very much,鈥� she says. And that鈥檚 OK, she says. If you don鈥檛 have the gig you expected 鈥� or if student loans and rent are getting in the way of your dream career 鈥� take steps to improve your employment profile. Ask for an information interview at a company where you鈥檇 like to work, and then really listen to what you hear.
鈥淭his is a lot more helpful than what your uncle is telling you,鈥� she says.
Volunteer in areas where you鈥檇 like to work.
