A new trailer has been released for the upcoming film 鈥淭he Peanuts Movie.鈥�

The movie centers on the characters created for the comic strip of the same name by Charles M. Schulz. In the trailer, such familiar characters as Charlie Brown, Sally, Linus, Schroeder, Lucy, and Peppermint Patty pop up, as well as Charlie Brown鈥檚 dog Snoopy.

The film is being released by Blue Sky Studios, best known for the 鈥淚ce Age鈥� films as well as the recent 鈥淩io鈥� films and the critically-well-received Dr. Seuss film "Horton Hears A Who!" The Peanuts themselves are best known for the TV specials in which they starred since the 1960s, including the 1965 TV program 鈥淎 Charlie Brown Christmas,鈥� often hailed as one of the best holiday films of all time (and which came in at number two on the list of Monitor readers鈥� favorite holiday programming).

鈥淭he Peanuts Movie鈥� is being released this November.聽

How will the Peanuts do at a modern multiplex? Other beloved cartoon properties before them have fallen into the trap of trying too hard to be relevant (the 鈥淎lvin and the Chipmunks鈥� films have been box office hits but were reviled by critics, with critic Adam Markovitz writing that 2011鈥檚 鈥淎lvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked鈥� mainly 鈥渞everts to nothing more than a cynical stab at grabbing kids鈥� attention 鈥� and, more importantly, their parents鈥� cash鈥�).聽

But 鈥淎 Charlie Brown Christmas鈥� could be this movie鈥檚 key to box office and critical success. 鈥淭he Peanuts Movie鈥� won鈥檛 need to prove itself to kids because children most likely already know the characters 鈥� last year, 鈥淎 Charlie Brown Christmas鈥� came in second behind CBS鈥檚 powerhouse 鈥淣CIS鈥� but beat Fox and NBC programming, according to the website , and that was the second time 鈥淐harlie鈥� aired. 鈥淚t鈥檚 the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,鈥� the Peanuts Halloween special, also usually does well in the ratings.

Many writers seem to feel that the trailer is embracing a timeless feel. writer Michael Cavna wrote of the clip, 鈥淵ou鈥檙e in good hands, Charlie Brown鈥� as if聽serving聽like a fan鈥檚 security blanket, this footage reassures that all is right with Charles Schulz鈥檚 65-year-old world.鈥� Meanwhile, writer Maeve McDermott wrote that 鈥渋f the movie鈥檚 trailers are any indication, [the characters are] just as quirky and spirited as the originals鈥� and writer Peter Debruge wrote that the movie鈥檚 trailers 鈥淸won] over skeptics who鈥檇 wondered whether Blue Sky鈥� was worthy of bringing Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of cartoonist Charles M. Schulz鈥檚 beloved characters to the big screen.鈥�
