'Ghostbusters' reboot: Here's the new cast and the release date

Director Paul Feig figured out who he wanted to call.
鈥淏ridesmaids鈥� helmer Feig, who is directing a new version of 鈥�Ghostbusters,鈥� has reportedly selected actresses Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon for the film. Wiig and McCarthy starred in 鈥淏ridesmaids,鈥� while Jones and McKinnon are currently cast members on 鈥�Saturday Night Live.鈥澛�
The posted a story that McCarthy had come on board for the project and that Wiig, Jones, and McKinnon were in negotiations but were 鈥渆xpected to sign on,鈥� wrote HR reporter Borys Kit.聽
And soon after that, Feig tweeted a picture of the four actresses.聽
McCarthy also starred in Feig鈥檚 film 鈥淭he Heat鈥� and on the TV series 鈥淢ike and Molly.鈥� She has also appeared in such movies as 鈥淪t. Vincent,鈥� 鈥淭ammy,鈥� and 鈥淚dentity Thief.鈥� Wiig was also a cast member on 鈥淪NL鈥� and recently appeared in such films as 鈥淭he Skeleton Twins鈥� and 鈥淗ow to Train Your Dragon 2.鈥� Meanwhile, Jones appears in the recent film 鈥淭op Five鈥� as well as having appeared on such TV shows as 鈥淲orkaholics鈥� and 鈥淭he League,鈥� while McKinnon appeared in the movie 鈥淟ife Partners鈥� and the TV show 鈥淭he Awesomes."聽
The new 鈥淕hostbusters鈥� film will be based on the 1984 comedy classic, which starred actors Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson as members of a ghost-hunting business. The original film was followed by a 1989 sequel.
Murray already gave his blessing to part of the new cast when he was asked about the possibility of a female 鈥淕hostbusters鈥� reboot last year. The actor began giving suggestions.

The new 鈥淕hostbusters鈥� film has also secured a release date 鈥� it will come out in July 2016, according to .
