Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.

The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

U.S. struck two more suspected drug vessels.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced the strikes yesterday. The eighth and ninth such strikes were the first to take place beyond the Caribbean Sea, in the eastern Pacific. They brought the total reported death toll to 37. Mr. Hegseth compared drug smugglers to Al Qaeda terrorists and vowed 鈥渏ustice,鈥� while lawmakers have pressed for legal justification for the attacks.
