Putin hosted Trump envoy for talks on Ukraine deal.
Steve Witkoff met with the Russian president for talks ahead of the White House鈥檚 deadline for Russia to reach a peace deal with Ukraine. Otherwise, Mr. Trump says Russia could potentially face severe economic penalties that could also hit countries buying its oil. Earlier talks between Russia and Ukraine, and Russian and U.S. officials, made no progress on ending the three-year war following Russia鈥檚 invasion of its neighbor.
