Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.
The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

And now, the current PM, Keir Starmer, might be on his way out. Mr. Starmer is caught up in a political scandal that centers on his appointment of Peter Mandelson as the United Kingdom鈥檚 ambassador in Washington. Mr. Mandelson was fired last September, after details came out about his connections to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The questions swirling around the prime minister now are related to the vetting process that Mr. Mandelson went through 鈥� to what Mr. Starmer knew about that vetting, and what it all says about the prime minister鈥檚 judgment.
