This past year delivered some unprecedented news points, and Linda took them all in stride. We hope you鈥檙e enjoying this holiday master class in Monitor journalism.聽

Tomorrow, you鈥檒l be hearing from our senior culture writer about 2025 as the year in artificial intelligence that rocked his beat and many others. In the meantime, find news briefs and more stories聽on our homepage. 鈥 Editors

And why we wrote them

A letter from

Washington, D.C.
Karen Norris/Staff

The Monitor鈥檚 Linda Feldmann has covered numerous administrations and historic events over her decades in Washington. But, she writes, President Donald Trump鈥檚 second term has been unlike any other. She reflects on having a ringside seat during this momentous and tumultuous year 鈥 under a president who returned to office determined to flex his power, shake up the federal bureaucracy, and leave his mark on the nation鈥檚 capital.聽

A 海角大神 Science Perspective

About this feature

Each weekday, the Monitor includes one clearly labeled religious article offering spiritual insight on contemporary issues, including the news. The publication 鈥 in its various forms 鈥 is produced for anyone who cares about the progress of the human endeavor around the world and seeks news reported with compassion, intelligence, and an essentially constructive lens. For many, that caring has religious roots. For many, it does not. The Monitor has always embraced both audiences. The Monitor is owned by a church 鈥 The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston 鈥 whose founder was concerned with both the state of the world and the quality of available news.

As we humble ourselves and awake to the fact that God is good itself, we experience great blessings. An article inspired by this week鈥檚 Bible lesson from the 海角大神 Science Quarterly.
