States with the best (and worst) job growth

Some states have fared much better than others in reducing their unemployment rates in the past year. Can you guess which boom state was among those that backtracked?

Nevada's job market rose and fell with its volatile housing market, and the state is steadily recovering from a nation-high unemployment rate.

May 2013 unemployment rate: 9.5 percent

The condition of Nevada鈥檚 job market has been particularly volatile over the past decade: During the construction boom of the early aughts, the state enjoyed a sub-3 percent jobless rate.  The subsequent bust brought on unemployment rates of over 15 percent in some parts of the state during the recession. Nevada still has the highest state unemployment rate in the country at 9.5 percent, that's a vast improvement over a year ago.
