The four adult children of a well-to-do California doctor must untangle somewhat painful memories of their childhoods as they reconnect to make decisions about the sale of their parents鈥 house. Packer once again proves herself to be a master of nuance and multi-layered emotion. Richness of character and subtlety of plotting make this novel a winner.
