Paterniti (also the author of "Driving Mr. Albert") was working in a deli in Michigan when he first encountered a sublime cheese. Eventually, he became so fascinated with the story of this cheese that he set off to Spain to meet its creator, Ambrosio Molino. "The Telling Room" is an interesting blend of memoir, travel, and food writing. "He's a very oddball, funny writer," Nelson says. "It's about obsession, part travelogue."
