The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Okay, the pedigree on this one is a little complicated, but here goes. In the 1970s French novelist Romain Gary tired of his celebrity and began writing books as 脡mile Ajar. When the second Ajar book won the Prix Goncourt, Gary was outed and in response wrote "Pseudo" 鈥� a fake confessional in which "Paul Pawlovitch" confesses to being 脡mile Ajar. "Hocus Bogus" is the first English translation of "Pseudo."
