Five best books for second (or third)-time parents

When our first child was born, it took two of us to bathe him 鈥 one to do the bathing, the other to read aloud from Penelope Leach鈥檚 鈥淵our Baby And Child." By the time our third child arrived, our baby-book needs were much more specific. Here are our top book recommendations for second- or third-time parents:

4. "Touchpoints," by T. Berry Brazelton

4. Touchpoints, by T. Berry Brazelton. This classic was one book among many during my first pregnancy, but has proved unusually useful on return visits. For child No. 3, I鈥檓 finding Brazelton鈥檚 guidelines on what to expect at different ages particularly helpful. I don鈥檛 need to be reminded how to nurse and diaper a child, for instance, but I did appreciate being reminded to expect a growth spurt (and accompanying appetite surge) when the baby was 2 weeks old.
