4. Touchpoints, by T. Berry Brazelton. This classic was one book among many during my first pregnancy, but has proved unusually useful on return visits. For child No. 3, I鈥檓 finding Brazelton鈥檚 guidelines on what to expect at different ages particularly helpful. I don鈥檛 need to be reminded how to nurse and diaper a child, for instance, but I did appreciate being reminded to expect a growth spurt (and accompanying appetite surge) when the baby was 2 weeks old.
