In the 2008 film directed by Andrew Stanton, humans have left Earth and only robots like WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter 鈥 Earth-Class) are left to clean up the trash left behind. WALL-E's life changes when another robot, EVE, arrives on the planet, searching for plant life and trying to discover if the Earth is fit to live on again.
In the film, WALL-E is mesmerized when watching an old VHS tape of the 1969 film "Hello, Dolly!" When accepting the for Best Animated Feature, Stanton thanked his high school drama teacher for casting him in a lead role in the musical. "Creative seeds are sown in the oddest of places," he said.
