Here's where you'll be able to see a 'Carpool Karaoke' spin-off show

Apple Music, one of many new TV providers creating their own content, has reportedly acquired a spin-off based on the 'Late Late Show' 'Carpool Karaoke' segment.

Another TV show will be joining a carpool.

A spin-off of the popular 鈥淐arpool Karaoke鈥 segment from CBS鈥檚 鈥淭he Late Late Show With James Corden鈥 is being created and will be available first on Apple Music. New episodes will stream on Apple Music every week.

Mr. Corden is not set to host at this time, but the format sounds similar to the CBS segment, with stars taking a ride and performing various tracks.聽

The 鈥淐arpool Karaoke鈥 segment on Corden鈥檚 show has attracted high-profile guests such as Michelle Obama, Adele, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Of the videos on the YouTube channel for the 鈥淟ate Late Show,鈥 the 鈥淐arpool Karaoke鈥 segments are by far the most popular, with the segment featuring Adele currently ranking as the most-viewed, followed by those including Justin Bieber and One Direction.聽

Corden debuted as host of 鈥淟ate鈥 in the spring of 2015.聽

This will be the newest late-night segment to prove successful enough to become its own show, and the newest that is music-based, as well. Jimmy Fallon鈥檚 鈥淭onight Show鈥 segment in which celebrities use their lip-syncing talents to face off inspired the Spike TV show 鈥淟ip Sync Battle.鈥澛

Meanwhile, the 鈥淐arpool Karaoke鈥 spin-off ending up at Apple Music presents a contrast between an old and new model of TV.聽

Late-night TV shows themselves are old TV institutions, with NBC's 鈥淭onight Show,鈥 for example, having debuted in 1954. Yet Apple Music creating the new 鈥淐arpool鈥 show demonstrates how just about any company can be a TV content provider today, with streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Yahoo Screen (which has since ended operations) changing the definitions of what a TV show is and whether watching something online is even truly watching something on 鈥淭V.鈥

Apple Music reportedly has more original content planned as well, such as a deal with rapper Dr. Dre for a six-episode drama series.
