Appearing on 鈥淛immy Kimmel Live鈥� on Monday night, actor John Stamos, who played Jesse Katsopolis in the 80s and 90s sitcom 鈥淔ull House,鈥� announced that Netflix will be picking up where ABC Family left off 20 years ago with a 13-episode reboot.
The show鈥檚 creator, Jeff Franklin, will serve as the executive producer of the ninth season, and Mr. Stamos will be returning to produce and make occasional guest appearances.
The reboot will star 鈥淔ull House鈥� veterans Candace Cameron-Bure (D.J. Tanner), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner), and Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler ). Additionally, Netflix is in talks with other 鈥淔ull House鈥� stars, including Bob Saget, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Dave Coulier, and Lori Loughlin, to guest star as well.
The new season will be titled 鈥淔uller House鈥� and will follow the adventures of Bure鈥檚 character D.J. Tanner Fuller 鈥� hence the name of the show 鈥� who is now a widowed and pregnant veterinarian. Mirroring the premise of the original show, D.J.鈥檚 younger sister Stephanie and childhood best friend Kimmy move in to help her raise her two sons and newborn baby.

News of the rumored reboot first broke earlier this month, but according to Stamos, the show鈥檚 original producers have been trying to organize a revival for years.
鈥淭he original creator, Jeff Franklin, and [executive producers] Bob Boyett and Tom Miller 鈥� we were trying to do some sort of spin-off and, you know, we wanted to give credit to the legacy. We didn鈥檛 want to, sort of, just throw it away,鈥� Stamos told Jimmy Kimmel. 鈥淲e鈥檝e been literally trying for so many years to do it right, and I think we鈥檝e finally got it perfect.鈥�
According to Stamos, the ninth season will debut on Netflix in 2016 with a one-hour special.
