Robin Roberts to co-host Oscars red carpet pre-show

Robin Roberts and Lara Spencer, hosts of ABC鈥檚 鈥淕ood Morning America,鈥� will host the Oscars red carpet show this year along with Tyson Beckford, an actor and model, and magazine editor Jess Cagle of People Magazine and Entertainment Weekly.聽
The pre-show is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., Eastern time, on March 2, according to the Los Angeles Times, and the Academy Awards ceremony itself will be hosted by comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
Roberts became an anchor for 鈥淎merica鈥� in 2005, while Spencer became an anchor in 2011. Other hosts on the show include George Stephanopoulos, Josh Elliott, and Ginger Zee.
Beckford recently appeared in the movie 鈥淗otel California鈥� and will star in the upcoming film 鈥淎ddicted,鈥� which is set to be released this fall.
Roberts tweeted at fellow hosts Beckford and Cagle, writing that she and Spencer "look forward to sharing the red carpet with you at the Oscars.鈥�
Roberts, Spencer, Beckford and Cagle will be hosting the show before an Oscars ceremony that is interesting industry watchers due to the races that are difficult to predict. While some nominees like 鈥淒allas Buyers Club鈥� actor Matthew McConaughey are believed to be frontrunners in their category, the Best Picture race, in which the films 鈥�12 Years a Slave,鈥� 鈥淕ravity,鈥� and 鈥淎merican Hustle鈥� are vying for the prize, is keeping people guessing. The outcome of other categories like Best Supporting Actress, in which 鈥淪lave鈥� actress Lupita Nyong鈥檕 and Jennifer Lawrence of 鈥淗ustle鈥� are nominated, is also murky.
In total, nine films are nominated for Best Picture this year: 鈥淪lave,鈥� 鈥淕ravity,鈥� 鈥淗ustle,鈥� 鈥淒allas Buyers Club,鈥� 鈥淧hilomena,鈥� 鈥淐aptain Phillips,鈥� 鈥淗er,鈥� 鈥淣ebraska,鈥� and 鈥淭he Wolf of Wall Street.鈥�
鈥淕ravity鈥� and 鈥淗ustle鈥� each received 10 nominations total, the most of any film. 鈥淪lave鈥� wasn't far behind, garnering nine.
It was also recently announced that singer and actress Idina Menzel will be performing "Let It Go," the breakout hit from the animated film 鈥淔rozen,鈥� at the Oscars ceremony.
