The third and final bodystyle for Honda鈥檚 10th-generation聽Civic聽range, the Civic Hatchback, will be previewed in prototype form at next month鈥檚 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The prototype will showcase the exterior design of the five-door hatchback that will go on sale in Europe in early 2017. Sales in the United States should follow shortly after the European launch.

No additional information has been revealed but from this single teaser shot we can see that the Civic Hatchback will feature similar styling to the latest聽Civic Sedan聽andCivic Coupe聽models. It鈥檚 possible the sporty design of the prototype, as indicated in the teaser, reflects the look pegged for the new generation of the Civic Type R鈥攖he one that will be sold in the U.S.

Prototypes for the聽new Civic聽Type R聽have already been spotted. They hint at the general shape we can expect for the Civic Hatchback as the five-door forms the basis of the new Civic Type R. The engine in the Civic Type R is expected to be a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with as much as 305 horsepower on tap. Regular Civic Hatchbacks should come with the 158-hp 2.0-liter four and 174-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter four already offered in the Civic Sedan and聽Civic Coupe.
