One wouldn鈥檛 want to actually experience the misfortunes that befall the Baudelaire orphans or Lemony Snicket鈥檚 other characters. But readers will soon be able to get the thrill of opening a book and seeing themselves in the narrative.
Snicket (also known as writer Daniel Handler) is working with the group Put Me In The Story to create personalized versions of his children鈥檚 series 鈥淎ll the Wrong Questions.鈥 The fourth book in the series, 鈥淲hy Is This Night Different from All Other Nights?,鈥 is being released this September and all four books will be released through Put Me In The Story then.
鈥淧ut Me In The Story has a worldwide reputation for making children happy through the gift of personalized literature,鈥 Snicket said in a statement. 鈥淟emony聽Snicket books, on the other hand, have a worldwide reputation for being unhappy, mysterious, and deeply impersonal.聽For some inexplicable reason, a partnership has developed, and personalized versions of my books will be offered to unsuspecting young people.聽 I shudder to think of what will happen to readers as a result, and humbly suggest that the name of the program be changed to Please, I Beg Of You, Take Me Out Of This Story.鈥
Snicket himself was the narrator of the 鈥淪eries of Unfortunate Events鈥 books and also offered dark hints that he was connected with the books鈥 events. The 鈥淎ll the Wrong Questions鈥 series focuses on Snicket as a young person.
