Elizabeth Gilbert announces a new book

The work, titled 'Big Magic,' will be a nonfiction exploration of 'the mysterious nature of creativity,' according to the publisher.

Elizabeth Gilbert鈥檚 next book will be a nonfiction examination of the creative process.聽

Gilbert鈥檚 work, titled 鈥淏ig Magic,鈥 is set to be released by Riverhead on Sept. 22. According to the publisher, 鈥淕ilbert digs deep into her own generative process to share her wisdom and unique perspective鈥. [S]he offers powerful insights into the mysterious nature of creativity. She invites readers to embrace curiosity and to let go of needless suffering. She discusses the attitudes, approaches, and habits that allow the most creative life possible.鈥澛

Gilbert鈥檚 previous nonfiction works include her memoir 鈥淓at, Pray, Love鈥 and her 2010 book 鈥淐ommitted,鈥 while her most recent work, 鈥淭he Signature of All Things,鈥 was a novel.

As noted by the Los Angeles Times, the author鈥檚 two TED talks focused on the creative process.

Gilbert wrote on her Facebook page, 鈥淚t鈥檚 a book based on many of conversations about creativity that we鈥檝e been having on this Facebook page over the last few years鈥. It鈥檚 basically a manifesto. It contains everything that I believe about creativity鈥. I鈥檓 not kidding when I say that this book would not exist without all of you who hang with me every single day on this Facebook page. It鈥檚 a book that you inspired, in other words, and I hope 鈥 in turn 鈥 that it will inspire you right back.鈥
