鈥淭wilight鈥 fans are getting more movies 鈥 sort of.聽

According to the New York Times, five female directors will get a chance to put their own spin on the 鈥淭wilight鈥 universe by creating short films based on the characters through a new project titled 鈥淭he Storytellers 鈥 New Creative Voices of 鈥楾he Twilight Saga.鈥欌

A panel of people including original 鈥淭wilight鈥 actress Kristen Stewart, 鈥淭wilight鈥 writer Stephenie Meyer, actresses Kate Winslet, Julie Bowen, and Octavia Spencer, 鈥淭wilight鈥 director Catherine Hardwicke, 鈥淔rozen鈥 director Jennifer Lee, and 鈥淭wilight鈥 producer and Women in Film president Cathy Schulman will select the directors. Once the five have been chosen by the panel, fans will help decide who the first-place winner is, according to Deadline.

According to the NYT, none of the 鈥淭wilight鈥 cast members will appear in the movies. The short films will debut on Facebook.聽

Lions Gate vice chairman Michael Burns commented cryptically on the new venture.聽

鈥淲e think Facebook is a great way for us to introduce the world of 鈥楾wilight鈥 to a whole new audience while re-energizing existing fans,鈥 he told the NYT. 鈥淭his is the just the beginning 鈥 a template, if you will. You can probably guess what might be coming next.鈥

Meanwhile, Meyer said in a statement, 鈥淭he female voice is something that has become more and more important to me as I鈥檝e worked in the film industry," according to Deadline.

The 鈥淭wilight鈥 movies were based on Meyer鈥檚 four-book series, which followed a mortal girl, Bella Swan (Stewart), who fell in love with vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). The last movie in the series, 鈥淭he Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn 鈥 Part 2,鈥 was released in 2012 and grossed more than $292 million domestically, according to the website Box Office Mojo.

Monitor film critic Peter Rainer said of 鈥淏reaking Dawn 鈥 Part 1,鈥 the last 鈥淭wilight鈥 film he reviewed and the one in which (years-old spoiler alert) protagonist Bella found herself pregnant, 鈥溾橮art 1鈥 is going for a 鈥楻osemary鈥檚 Baby鈥 vibe but without much wit or imagination.鈥
