Author James Dashner has announced he is writing another prequel to his 鈥淢aze Runner鈥� series, news that comes soon after the movie adaptation of the first book set in that world, also titled 鈥淭he Maze Runner,鈥� hit theaters and a movie sequel to 鈥淢aze鈥� was announced.聽

The new book will be titled 鈥淭he Fever Code鈥� and will be released in 2016.聽

鈥淔rom the very beginning, I鈥檝e always wanted to write a prequel about Thomas, Teresa, Newt, Minho, Alby and all the Gladers that leads up to the very moment Thomas enters the Box,鈥� Dashner said聽in a statement, according to the Los Angeles Times. 鈥淭here are so many things hinted at that will be fun to reveal in depth. For years, fans have made it abundantly and enthusiastically clear that they want the same thing, so now seems like the perfect time to give readers the story of how the Maze began.鈥澛�

Dashner has already written one prequel to the main trilogy, which is titled 鈥淭he Kill Order.鈥� The trilogy consists of the books 鈥淭he Maze Runner,鈥� 鈥淭he Scorch Trials,鈥� and 鈥淭he Death Cure.鈥澛�

The movie version of 鈥淢aze鈥� stars Dylan O鈥橞rien, Kaya Scodelario, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. It tells the story of a boy named Thomas (O鈥橞rien) who wakes up as he is being conveyed to a large area called the Glade. He has no idea how he got there and the other boys tell him that the area is surrounded by a large maze, which no one has figured out a way through. Soon a girl, the first one there, arrives as well.

The film came in first place at the box office this past weekend, grossing $32.5 million, according to the Associated Press, which was far above the grosses for the thriller 鈥淎 Walk Among The Tombstones,鈥� which starred Liam Neeson, and the dramedy 鈥淭his Is Where I Leave You.鈥� The studio behind it, 20th聽Century Fox, soon announced that a movie will be made of the next book in the 鈥淢aze鈥� trilogy, 鈥淭he Scorch Trials,鈥� and that it will be released in September 2015.
