The second half of the first season of the hit Starz series 鈥淥utlander鈥 will air beginning in April 2015, according to the network.

The first season of the show consists of 16 episodes and the eighth will air on Sept. 27. The show will then take a break until it returns with the remaining eight episodes starting on April 4.

鈥淥utlander,鈥 which is based on the series by Diana Gabaldon, centers on World War II married nurse Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), who travels through time back to eighteenth-century Scotland.聽

(Spoilers follow for the most recent episode鈥)聽

The last episode found Claire getting married to Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), and according to Starz, the installment had the most 鈥淟ive+3鈥 viewers on Starz since a 2012 episode of the show 鈥淪partacus: Vengeance.鈥 (鈥淟ive+3鈥 denotes those who watched it live as well as those watched it during the three days after the premiere via DVR.)

鈥淥utlander鈥 has also already been renewed for a second season.

As 鈥淥utlander鈥 fans know, there鈥檚 plenty of material to be covered if the TV series continues to move forward. Gabaldon released the eighth book in the 鈥淥utlander鈥 series, titled 鈥淲ritten in My Own Heart鈥檚 Blood,鈥 this past June and all the books are fairly long 鈥 鈥淏lood鈥 clocks in at 814 pages.

The TV series has also provided a sales boost to Gabaldon鈥檚 novels. 鈥淥utlander,鈥 which was originally published in 1991, is currently holding the sixth spot on the New York Times combined print and e-book fiction bestseller list for the week of Sept. 21, while the second book in the series, 鈥淒ragonfly in Amber,鈥 is at number sixteen.

In a review of the show, USA Today critic Robert Bianco called 鈥淥utlander鈥 鈥渇ull of promise鈥 and awarded it three stars out of four.

鈥淸Caitriona] Balfe imbues [Claire] with beauty, brains and spunk,鈥 he writes. 鈥淣ot every detail of time and place rings true鈥 Still, if聽Outlander's Highlands sometimes feel a bit sanitized, they're a lovely place to visit.鈥
