Syfy is reportedly moving forward with a TV pilot based on Lev Grossman鈥檚 novel 鈥淭he Magicians.鈥�
鈥淢agicians鈥� is the first in a planned trilogy by Grossman 鈥� the first book was followed by 鈥淭he Magician King鈥� and the third book, 鈥淭he Magician鈥檚 Land,鈥� is set to be released on Aug. 5. The series follows a teenager, Quentin, who is selected to attend a magic college but soon learns that the world he has entered may be more complicated than he realized.
According to Deadline, 鈥淢agicians鈥� almost came to TV before now 鈥� Fox acquired a possible TV series based on the book in 2011, but the project didn鈥檛 move forward.
The pilot was written by John McNamara, a writer for the NBC series 鈥淧rime Suspect鈥� and the ABC show 鈥淭he Fugitive,鈥� among others, and Sera Gamble, a writer for the CW show 鈥淪upernatural.鈥�
