Uzodinma Iweala鈥檚 novel 鈥淏easts of No Nation鈥� is reportedly being adapted into a movie by Cary Fukunaga of 鈥淭rue Detective鈥� with actor Idris Elba on board to star.
鈥淏easts of No Nation鈥� was published in 2005 and follows an African boy named Agu who becomes a child soldier. Barnes & Noble called the book 鈥渁 horrifying portrait of war鈥� and wrote that 鈥淎gu鈥檚 narration casts a harrowing spell.鈥澛�
Now Fukunaga, director of the acclaimed HBO series 鈥淭rue Detective,鈥� is on board to direct, according to IndieWire, and 鈥淟uther鈥� actor Idris Elba is said to be starring as the commander of Agu鈥檚 military group.
A release date has not yet been set.
