A creepy new trailer has debuted for 鈥淭he Hunger Games: Mockingjay 鈥 Part 1,鈥 the third in a planned quartet of films.

Series fans will remember that the last film, 鈥淭he Hunger Games: Catching Fire,鈥 ended with love interest Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) being captured by government forces. In the new clip, the country鈥檚 leader President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is addressing the citizens about recent trouble in the country. (The trailer is created as if it鈥檚 an official address by Snow to the citizens of the fictional country Panem, with the logo for 鈥淐apitol TV鈥 appearing before Snow makes his speech.)

鈥淪ince the dark days, our nation has known only peace,鈥 Snow says as words like 鈥渦nity鈥 and 鈥減rosperity鈥 flash on the screen. 鈥淵our hard work feeds us and in return we feed and protect you. But if you resist the system, you starve yourself. If you fight against it, it is you who will bleed.鈥

As Snow speaks, it is revealed that none other than Peeta is standing next to him, staring into space.聽

The 鈥淗unger Games鈥 film series has often taken unusual routes to advertise the movies. Before the release of the 2013 film 鈥淭he Hunger Games: Catching Fire,鈥 the movie鈥檚 studio, Lionsgate, created a fake fashion website titled 鈥淐apitol Couture鈥 that shows the newest looks for Panem鈥檚 wealthy citizens and included 鈥渋nterviews鈥 with the characters of the movie. Cover Girl and retailer Net-A-Porter also sold makeup and clothing looks, respectively, based on the film.

鈥淕ames鈥 author Suzanne Collins told Variety that she was 鈥渢hrilled鈥 with the ad campaign.

鈥淚t鈥檚 appropriately disturbing and thought-provoking how the campaign promotes 鈥楥atching Fire鈥 while simultaneously promoting the Capitol鈥檚 punitive forms of entertainment,鈥 she said. 鈥淭he stunning image of Katniss in her wedding dress that we use to sell tickets is just the kind of thing the Capitol would use to rev up its audience for the Quarter Quell [the name of the games in 鈥淐atching Fire鈥漖. That dualistic approach is very much in keeping with the books."
